Re: Autoscan on OS2008

I could swear it wasn't in the Extras menu before, but it is now, and it works. I was able to scan my home network. I have not tried starting/stopping the daemon, but I see no reason to now.

I...

Re: Autoscan on OS2008

Thanks for bringing this thread back. I just downloaded and installed AutoScan from the website and ran "autoscan-network" from X-Term. It opened the Wizard and, as you say, gets hung up on the...

Re: Turn your tablet to IP-camera with gstmjpg

Adding a couple of command shortcuts to osso-statusbar-cpu for this would be a wonderful addition to an already great application. Could someone please post the command I need to enter into...

Re: N800 video call to Windows PC - Google Talk

I hadn't yet but just tried by dialing 1747#######@proxy01.sipphone.com from X-Lite and it didn't go through. I could be doing that wrong, though. Does it work for you?

What I have done is add...

Re: N800 as controller for XBOX XBMC

Wanting to try again that old AJAX interface I got awhile back (when I was running OS2007), I gave it another go (now with OS2008 "Diablo"). It worked, sort of. It's unpolished and buggy. So I set...

Re: N800 as controller for XBOX XBMC

I copied it to a separate directory under "web" as you suggested and it works well. I will say that the ~4 seconds it takes to reload the page after every click sort of takes away from the Awe...

Re: N800 as controller for XBOX XBMC

Thanks for pulling this one back up, jjchambers. I'd like to give your modified interface a try; if I get to it soon, maybe I could offer insight (though my web programming skills are barely above...

Re: N800 video call to Windows PC - Google Talk

I don't think you want to try X-Lite on the N800. Like someone said in this thread, use the built-in SIP client on the N800. In the menu it's called "Internet Call". Setup your VoipBuster account...

Re: Additional hardware buttons via USB remote

I agree, Benson. To be maximally useful, it would have to be something that can be easily reproduced. This would encourage more developers to implement it into their applications. The...

Re: Idea: Backup cell phone contacts w/N800

Cool! Thanks for the tip, TA-t3. I have to admit very little experience with BT, since I've never owned (and still don't own) a phone with it.

Now, for those of us who don't have the BT option...

Idea: Backup cell phone contacts w/N800

Another idea for an N800 use: backing up your cell phone contacts. They make standalone devices that do this (such as http://www.backup-pal.com/). Does anyone have input on making the N800 perform...

Re: Maemo Mapper v2.2 for OS2006/OS2007/OS2008

Thanks for the response-- I figured it wouldn't be very hard to invert as well. I think many people would agree that night-mode is preferable to dimming. Now that you know there's interest, would...

Additional hardware buttons via USB remote

My thoughts return to the PSP with its serial inline remote for controlling media playback. Though I haven't yet driven with my N800, I can imagine myself wanting to use something tactile while...

Re: Holux M1000 (and likely M1200) can do 5HZ!

Can anyone confirm that the M1200 can do 5Hz? I just made use of said shipping special.

Re: Maemo Mapper v2.2 for OS2006/OS2007/OS2008

Thank you, Gnuite, for your work on Maemo Mapper. It's really a pleasure to use. This brings me to my question-- is there a "night mode"?

I've searched these threads for any mention of it, and...

Re: GPS Receiver .................

yooper,
Can you please expand on that? I'm considering the GPSlim 236, 240, and M1200. More inclined to buy the 240 or M1200 b/c of size, but I'm wondering what issues you have with the 236 and...

Re: N800 USB OTG Adapters/Dongles

Glad this thread sprung up well. At this point, I'm in for an adapter, and interested in a dongle. Thanks, Rob.

Re: N800 USB Host Mode Experiment

I'd pay $20 for an OTG dongle or $10 for an OTG adapter.
If I got the OTG adapter cheap enough, I'd also get this:

and use an applet to switch...

Yep, I have that one bookmarked... someone in this gigantic thread posted it awhile back. 3-4" is my target length. Thanks for the post though.

Re: N800 USB Host Mode Experiment

jolouis,
I mostly agree with you. The cost difference is huge. It seems the only hope for something like that would be many interested parties and a good deal on a bulk purchase. While I don't...

Re: N800 USB Host Mode Experiment

Alternatively, this (http://www.usbfirewire.com/Parts/rr-2mbr01-ext-06.html) dongle with 2 adapters:
1) Male mini-B to Male mini-B
2) Male mini-B to Female A (like so many we've seen)

The first...

Re: N800 USB Host Mode Experiment

My preference would be a dongle. If adapters are easier to modify, how about this idea:
A modified Female mini-B to Female A adapter, mated with a 3-4" Male mini-B to Male mini-B cable.

The...
