On desktop, just to the right of the "earth" browser-icon, click the "home" menu, then choose "Select Applets."
I believe the thing you want to remove by unchecking is called "Web Shortcut."

Open a terminal window and run /usr/liibexec/navicore-gpsd-helper
Then tell MaemoMapper to use local gpsd.
Definitely a workaround, but it works great.

1 - Leafpad... because Maemopad doesn't wrap, Notes utility has been crashing (internal application error) and mangling/truncating/losing "formatted text" files, and PyGTK doesn't allow font...

On the 810, if you execute "/usr/libexec/navicore-gpsd-helper" (without the quotes) it will start up the GPS daemon and give a running log...

I had a similar problem.
A "lsof /media/mmc2" (IIRC) indicated that mapper was keeping files open, though it wasn't apparently running.
Rebooting cleared it up.
Not sure if this is same problem,...
