Re: rDesktop for OS2008?

You need to make sure your router is forwarding in port 3389 to the computer you're trying to connect to. It's unlikely that your ISP is blocking this port, but your router most likely is, if only...

Re: SOCKS5 Proxy and N800

Right, I think I'll go that approach for now (actually, I'll likely just run from the command line for now). So that just leaves telepathy.

Re: SOCKS5 Proxy and N800

Thanks, InfinityDevil. I've noticed two problems with the constant tsocks method -

1) Gizmo doesn't work. You can override this by running it "LD_PRELOAD= gizmo". I tried setting the networks it...

Talking Re: SOCKS5 Proxy and N800

Here's what I've got in my own personal webpage (not visible to the public at the moment). I'm not familiar with this site's associated Wiki, so I'm putting it here.

Caveats: This glosses over...

Re: rDesktop for OS2008?

What you're looking for is vnc server running on the tablet (there is one, but I don't remember if it's in the repositories), and a vnc client on the mac.

Remote desktop involves a server (built...

Re: rDesktop for OS2008?

Usually I get a stack of log messages, but nothing specific as to why it closed (just a generic error). I've found it works sometimes, doesn't work others. Often it'll work if I log in as root (ssh...

Re: SOCKS5 Proxy and N800

I thought my non-globe might be due to editing the .desktop file. I pointed it to rdesktop so I'd get a different application if changing it actually made a difference. Changing it back hasn't...

Re: N810 Tips and Tricks

Are you sure they are the same? My N95 has a 200mA charger, while the N810 is a 800mA. The voltages and polarity and tip size are the same, but there's the risk of overheating/failure/insufficient...

Re: SOCKS5 Proxy and N800

Using "tsocks /usr/bin/browser" does work fine. So that's good. Tested by starting/stopping the socks proxy at various times.

Calling that from the command line gives the four white blocks icon...

Re: SOCKS5 Proxy and N800

In its big brother, I have an extension that shows it clearly in the status bar - I like that. Unfortunately, the microb architecture doesn't make doing something similar easy. I guess it could do...

Re: N800 USB Host Mode Experiment

Do I remember correctly that the iPod won't charge over USB1, but will still act as a harddrive? Maybe that was another device. IF that is the case, is it possible to force Linux to report the port...

Re: SOCKS5 Proxy and N800

InfinityDevil, the problem with your method is there's never any clear indication of if the proxy is being used since each new connection returns it to the unsocked configuration. The whole point...

Re: N800 USB Host Mode Experiment

tz1: Is the powered hub really necessary for the ipod? I'd think (and hope), having its own battery, it'd be designed to not need power off of the USB port...

Re: Google Reader for the Tablet

I've also found this one to be quite handy on both the n810 and on the desktop browser:

Thanks for yours - I'll check it out as well.

Re: SOCKS5 Proxy and N800

Not only does the browser reset the proxy type to 0 on close/open, it also does it when the connection changes. I'm assuming this is because you can set proxies per connection - but it doesn't...

Re: Tap-n-hold wierdness ???

To answer an earlier question, this is very definitely an issue with the N810. I've experienced it, but not often enough to establish what caused it (if it happens I just reopen and make sure I...

Re: Updated OS, Internal Card locked

You might be able to run fsck with it mounted. I'd only be worried about the swap file being active confusing the OS and causing problems.

Is it actually using that swap file?

If no,...

Re: Updated OS, Internal Card locked

sparkling:

You might need to start from a fresh reboot to turn the swap off (step 3) if you're using enough memory from running processes.

1) open terminal window
2) become root (there's a FAQ...

Re: Modest ready to try...

So far, I'm quite impressed with Modest. For one thing, it's snappy. In many ways, it's faster for reading my imap account than thunderbird on my laptop. It's also not getting bogged down by the...
