A2DP supports mono, the SBC codec has it built in. You're probably referring to the headset profile, which uses a totally different codec/profile and serves a different purpose

does anyone know how to avoid sound skipping when another process uses too much cpu?
I think it's because the ALSA buffer is too small (1024 samples), and I found no way of modifying it.

it would be great to release mplayer with alsa and mp3 (preferably libmad) support. I don't think it increases the size too much, and it's quite useful for a lot of people

I have the hacker edition, and it comes with alsa (i recommend it to any 2006 users, works great and much better than 2006)
I had to build the sbc codec and a2dp packages, and also recompile...

it does actually. I'm playing with n770 and a2dp and it's quite usable. mplayer + mp3 decoding 192kb + sbc code takes 50% cpu.
2007HE needed, and the sbc is far from optimal. But it works.

a2dp on n770 HE
Hi,
I managed to get a2dp to work on n770 HE from kagu with no skipping.
I'm still working on optimizations on the sbc codec side, and will post some instructions and packages on how to get it...

I was able to get it to work on the n770.
I had to recompile mplayer with alsa and mp3 support, and the cpu usage is too high to be used from kagu - a lot of skipping happens.

i'm testing it right now, on a n770, latest HE.
Thing is, i have a 1G mmc card, with a 920M linux partition, so not enough space.
What I did is share the bzip on my linux and access it with cifs....
