Re: Nokia N9 or Droid Razr or Galaxy Nexus?
IMHO I find the Motorola Droid RAZR a mighty ugly phone... and the Samsung Galaxy Nexus is not much better looking.
However my real problem with both are Android so far I'm still very unimpressed...

Re: Handtec sourced N9 crashes thread
This is the error from dmesg just before a reboot and the dmesg after the reboot:

Re: Handtec sourced N9 crashes thread
Yes I agree completely. I submitted a support question at Handtec about this. But it might indeed be wiser to go directly to Nokia.
Shouldn't be too hard for them to order a recall and replace all...

Re: Handtec sourced N9 crashes thread
http://discussions.europe.nokia.com/t5/Maemo-and-MeeGo-Devices/n9-random-reboots/td-p/1192015 confirms my experience.
It raises the very interesting question of:
Is nokia (or for us Handtec)...

Re: Handtec sourced N9 crashes thread
Hi all,
I had numerous (3 or 4) crashed of applications today. Mostly the webbrowser since I was using that a lot.
Also 1 reboot.
Now I looked in dmesg and I found a "SGX Hardware Recovery...

Re: accessing N9 thru SSH over wifi
Please note that the internal password security of the N9 like the N900 is very very weak !
Passwords are stored in /etc/passwd with a very simple "Traditional DES" encryption which makes cracking...

Re: Handtec sourced N9 crashes thread
Just got my 64GB N9 today from handtech.
Overall the device is working perfectly but I see two major problems:
1. Reboots, got about 4 to 6 reboots now in less then one day of use. That said...

Re: ssh-ing into N900 as user
Using a plain password on a Maemo device is vulnerable.
It does not use shadow password files and the default crypto is a very weak Traditional DES encryption which is very easy to break. Since...

I've created a patch in couple of mins for this. The patch could be cleaner but it works now. However since messages are larger they make the screen also scroll in the horizontal direction.

Eugh it's called the Redhat Package Manager for crying out loud.
I understand what your trying to say, but wording could be better. RPM obviously has _something_ to do with Redhat. Though any...

Re: Maemo + Moblin = MeeGo
Think that's a very interesting discussion as well.
What's going to happen to Maemo ?
I'm assuming that for Nokia purposes it will be dropped entirely, scrapped in favor of Moblin's code base....

I would like to second that.
The cooperation and moving several mobile projects into one, can be a very very good thing for us all. But as for rpm and more specially the fedora base I can only...

Re: Fedora based MeeGo = NoGo!
I agree that RPM's spec files are (or can be) slightly easier to create then .deb files. And that's where most of the good things stop...
I trully hate the Fedora base, I never liked the way Red...

Re: Maemo + Moblin = MeeGo
I truly hope not.
Right now (as far as i understand it) Mer is Debian/ARM combined with as much Maemo things as can be build OpenSource on top of it.
Which is a GOOD thing.
What I hope for...

Re: Maemo + Moblin = MeeGo
As far as i know there are none. Basically Maemo Debian style linux is going to be replaced with Moblins Fedora.
So this will not be good for you if you like Debian Linux and apt-get.
