Re: N810 Carphone
In fact, yes, Windows XP is promiscuous about connecting to an available WLAN, and no, it doesn't, by default, ask permission.
Wow, there are *lots* of people who don't read this week, aren't...

Re: Cracking a wifi connection
Wow. Work on the reading comprehension.
SOME OTHER GUY asked for help on that.
I was on the "I will be paged the second you associate" side.
Not that this justifies your view point.

Re: Cracking a wifi connection

Re: N810 Carphone
Well, aside from that last sentence needing a rewrite for us to know what the heck you mean, no, there's no "wilfull" about it, and since I made that clear in my posting, and you're 'wilfully'...

Re: Why does Media Player got to hurt so bad?
Further investigation -- we always do that *after we post*, right? :-) -- suggests it might have been a corrupted internal table. I flushed Now Playing, and then re-added my entire 900 track list,...

Why does Media Player got to hurt so bad?
Ever since I upgraded last weekend to 2008, the native media player -- which is actually not too bad on the controls front, as a car player -- seems to have truly execrable touch response.
I can...

Re: N810 Carphone
I predict that within the year, Democrats' fondness for civil rights being what it is, we will see the FCC exercise jurisdiction over this issue.
Since the radios are required to be federally type...

Re: N810 Carphone
The real problem, folks -- the thing that makes the whole idea of trying to hold *users* responsible for *network operators* not securing non-public access points -- is this:
Windows XP will...

It's telling me where to go. Like many others, I cannot get US_East 2008.1 to download.
I've tried 3 different routers, on 3 different...

Re: Cracking a wifi connection
Ok. As someone who operates a corporate network, let me tell you how this would go.
My access points are routers, running DD-WRT. They're configured for WPA-PSK.
After banging on the network...

Re: Updating to OS 2008 ... problems ensue
Amusingly, even this late in the game, my just having upgraded my 800 to 2008, the download *still* took almost 10 minutes... and when I had to do it a second time, it wasn't bright enough to notice...

but my personal solution is to use an oversize vertical cellphone beltclip case, carrying the otherwise unsheathed unit -- which makes it much...

Re: Screen blank after lock - N800
So I tried this mod, and it seems to be doing what I wanted.
I made 2 related mods to mce.ini, and I thought I'd mention them here for the archives:
I set PowerKeyDoubleAction=softpoweroff,...

Re: My Nokia n810: Once year later
Hmmm.
I've been doing this stuff for 25 years now (ghod, I feel old) -- both working on and with computers, and being an opinionated bastard on teh intertubes.
And I'm of two minds about what...

Re: Screen blank after lock - N800
