yep, i do it all the time... bring out the mouse cursor and click on the cursor icon to make it sticky. then your key presses should work the way you want them to.

quiver will auto-rotate images that contain an exif orientation tag.

i don't believe this is what you're talking about though so maybe you could explain what your definition of auto-rotate is.
