Re: [Announce] kernel-power v48

@pali
I've been testing the new .debs since 22:00 GMT last night. Booted, charged, called, watched vids, browsed, used modest, csbwin, clock and a bunch of other apps.

No problems to report as...

Re: [Announce] kernel-power v48

Great news Pali, and props to X-Fade for finding the issue.

Anyone seen tigrette around? I'd still like to try the ramzswap he was tinkering with.

Re: Overclock the N900?

Here's my current config. Min 250, max 805, all VDD powersaving switched on, custom very low voltages.

Note that 805 is the max clock when using VDD2 powersaving. Any higher clock will crash...

Re: [ANNOUNCE] Super Script [FINAL VERSION] + Tweaks To Speed UP N900 Dramatically + Battery Improvements

Hi All

I'm afraid epitaph has a point here. I've been doing some more digging into how the N900 manages resources and it seems that Open Hardware Manager is in use on our system.

OHM includes...

Re: Another goodbye n900 thread

I'd love to say goodbye to the N900 - but I'm not going to move to a less capable device.

The trouble is, there isn't anything on the market that constitutes an upgrade.

Every viable...

Re: [ANNOUNCE] Super Script + Tweaks To Speed UP N900 Dramatically (FINAL VERSION)

@l33int13h

ls -l /dev/cgroup/cpu

You should see a directory named applications, another named desktop and a bunch of files.
If it says "file or directory does not exist" then the patch hasn't...

Oh dear. Why can't we all just get along?
Or failing that, get a moderator :-)

Re: [ANNOUNCE] Super Script + Tweaks To Speed UP N900 Dramatically (FINAL VERSION)

Hi Guys,

There seems to have been some confusion lately about how the various bits of this script work, and how they're executed by maemo.

First point - rc.local doesn't do anything on an n900....

Re: N900 MeeGo CE Summer Edition Released

What repo is mkimage in? It's not in extras -devel or -testing from what I can see.

23rd - stock down on the back of the windows 7 thing and Elop's extremely ill-advised...

Re: [ANNOUNCE] Script + Tweaks To Speed UP N900

Hi Guys,

I've tidied up the cgroup patch a lot. It's now a self-contained script, it no longer needs bash and it's a bit more effective when you run things from x-terminal (previously you had to...

Re: BFS for the power kernel

Same result here - about an hour of heavy use with the new kernel (bfqio disaled). BFQ is enabled on mmcblk0 and mmcblk1, and no instability yet.

For the record, I've been testing BFS kernel with...

Re: [ANNOUNCE] Script + Tweaks To Speed UP N900

Un-nice - remove the "-n -8" from dsmetool when xorg runs. It doesn't really have any performance benefit, but by putting xorg back in the mix with all other tasks, it does at least cause the CPU...

Re: [ANNOUNCE] Script + Tweaks To Speed UP N900

From what I can figure out, the secret sauce is that instead of CFS enumerating 150-200 processes to decide who gets resources, it instead enumerates just 3-4 cgroups, reducing the scheduling load by...

Re: [ANNOUNCE] Script + Tweaks To Speed UP N900

Mmmmhm, I see it's tweakable to a fair degree, but the main result automatic process grouping brings is the grouping itself which works well with the kernel's CFS scheduler. Tweaking resource...

Re: [ANNOUNCE] Script + Tweaks To Speed UP N900

I've tried just about every performance/battery/"smoothness" patch available over the last 12 months, including :-
- power kernel scaling (250<>805) with vdd1+2
- powervr.ini
-...

What's the max stable clock with smartreflex VDD1/2?

Re: Massive interactivity improvement under high I/O load!

Anyone had any luck getting these settings to apply at boot?
