Do not use Aliendalvik Cleanup by Schturman on U11!

Do not use Aliendalvik Cleanup by Schturman on U11! If you have it installed - remove it immediately. Using it on U11 will remove all your data from home partition and you will loose all data stored in phone memory.

Application already removed from Openrepos and will not appear anymore.

You were warned!

Because in u11 home location is mounted under /opt/alien, but script is blindly removes everything /opt/alien.

Re: Do not use Aliendalvik Cleanup by Schturman on U11!

By coincidence I did a "rm -rf /opt/alien/*" today (on U11), to freshly install android support.

It did not affect my /home content. Did not look at it closer, but I think I might the related to the fact that /home is actually a partition of it's own.

I am not saying you should or should not use this app (better safe than sorry), just sharing my experience from today.

Here is the command line history of my steps:
Code:

  392  [03/01/2015 05:35:19 PM] systemctl stop aliendalvik.service
  393  [03/01/2015 05:35:42 PM] ls -l /opt/alien/
  394  [03/01/2015 05:35:55 PM] cd
  395  [03/01/2015 05:35:59 PM] cd .
  396  [03/01/2015 05:36:01 PM] rm -rf /opt/alien/*
  397  [03/01/2015 05:36:15 PM] rm -rf /data/system/dropbox/*
  398  [03/01/2015 05:36:15 PM] rm -rf /data/system/registered_services/*
  399  [03/01/2015 05:36:15 PM] rm -rf /data/system/sync/*
  400  [03/01/2015 05:36:15 PM] rm -rf /data/system/usagestats/*
  401  [03/01/2015 05:36:15 PM] rm -rf /data/system/users/*
  402  [03/01/2015 05:36:16 PM] rm -rf /data/app/*
  403  [03/01/2015 05:36:36 PM] rm -rf /data/dalvik-cache/*
  404  [03/01/2015 05:36:36 PM] rm -rf /data/data/*
  405  [03/01/2015 05:36:45 PM] rm -rf /data/user/*
  406  [03/01/2015 05:36:45 PM] rm -f /usr/share/applications/apkd_launcher_*
  407  [03/01/2015 05:36:45 PM] rm -f /var/lib/apkd/*
  408  [03/01/2015 05:36:45 PM] rm -f /data/system/packages.list
  409  [03/01/2015 05:36:45 PM] rm -f /data/system/packages.xml
  410  [03/01/2015 05:36:45 PM] rm -f /data/system/uiderrors.txt
  411  [03/01/2015 05:36:49 PM] reboot

So no explicit removal of android support.

Almost the same steps as this app does, but I did not remove aliendalvik (did a reinstall afterwards).

Maybe time to change the title and edit the first post to something less alarming, then?
