Rolling back to 2007, and trying to install Python
Hello all,
I tried OS2008 (on my n800) and quickly discovered there is no serious text editor (such as leafpad which can edit a 400k text file). So I rolled back to 2007. Unfortunately, there is a problem reinstalling Python (I get the message: Code:
The service is temporarily unavailable. We are very sorry for the inconvinience it may cause. TIA, Craig... [edit] OK, I see the problem (elsewhere in the forums). For some reason the hostname is incorrect for the maemo repositories. One should edit /etc/apt/sources.list and remove the 'i' from repository.maemo.org to repostory.maemo.org Now the python install works, whew! [/edit] |

It installs ok, but does not show up in the 'program manager' type thingie - Scite does. However, it can be started from xterm.

Re: Rolling back to 2007, and trying to install Python
Ok these are different versions of leafpad.
Mine is 0.8.9. One from OS2007 seems like 0.8.10 and included hildonization. Latest is 0.8.13 but hildonization has been removed. When I understand the mess and what can be done on the device (scared with internationalization), maybe I'll do something more usefull. Meanwhile vi rulez :D |
