Chinese input on a ported device - is there any hope? (i.e. unofficial IMEs)

There was a little confusion regarding the Chinese input on SFOS. The built-in Chinese input will not work on any ported device. [1] [2]

Hence the question: is there any open-source Chinese IME for SailfishOS/Nemomobile that doesn't depend on the xt9 repos? What I mean is:
1) a pinyin IME (e.g. based on libpinyin)
2) a finger-writing IME

I need at least the former and ideally both for my study.

Two questions:
1. What's wrong with your first thread on the topic?
2. Can't you use another, "official" device to download the package and install it offline?

1. Because it's going to be easier for people looking for the same thing as me to follow. In general, threads getting very long are difficult to find information in.
2. Because I don't own any official SFOS phone.
