Re: Should I buy new N810 ten years after release?

concerning internet radio ..yup still works...
oscp works fine..
amongst other programs to utilize it.

concerning gmail or other mail....
it has been a bit since I used it for such...
have to test it again.

Now....
I do hope gerbick wore his brown pants today...
since it appears chen's statement filled gerbick's drawers out of complete surprise.

welly well well
chen ...you wily bastard what are you up to in your Frankensteinian laboratory ? eh?

and yes...

the form factor ....
the left / right speakers...(wish they were front left / right speakers like the n800...though...)
the camera is ..adequate...(I like the turnable periscope cam on the n800...mondo cool...)
the particular keyboard ...
the screen size and real estate...
the resiistive screen...
the separate charge port and separate usb connection and separate headphone port...
the removable battery...
the easy access while running sd slot...(pity the n810 doesn't have two sd slots like the n800 though...since it allows a lot of easy alternate os implementation...)
the os and de and wm ...(which I know is a personal taste issue...but with the flexibility of the n810 and using so many options ...that is a non issue...)
Hell...
I don't know too many handhelds that can actually run real xmms ...with all the bells and whistles and virtualization eye candy...like the n8x0's (on maemo4) even....

hell...maemo versions don't have the crud android does...
perpetual cleanings...viruses...malwares...al the garbage...
sigh...just a really bad platform...
and the other big boys are no better....

out of every handheld ...anything...I have ever put into my hand...

the n810 was / is.....
hands down the all around best.

Chen....
If you are planning to make a modern revisionist n810 ...
which addresses the few short comings the original had....
do it right....
and the world will follow you

Also, does the email notifier for Gmail still work?

Just was fiddling with the stock media player...xmms...oscp...internet radio still works fine.

I enjoy listening to early music...channels such as ceu medieval radio from the university ...out of budapest ..

sitting here with my n800 cranking it out...right now...

Is N810 unique mobile device that you can charge battery and keep your USB-device in device together?

Nothing special..I just copying files from usb-memory stick and noticed that battery is almost empty, I didn't have to stop copying to free usb-port for usb-charger, I just plug charger in its hole.

I impressed also how easy usb devices works compared to N900.

ah....
yes...
I thought that is what you were referring to ...
But I wanted to make sure.

yup ...
usb works much smoother than n900 ...(in my opinion anyway)..
and...
separate dedicated power port and separate dedicated usb is pretty darn handy eh?

I am impressed in how long battery last. I have used in light use and shutdown for nights and used about 1 hour/day. And this was second time this year that I charge N810.

Not bad battery life eh?
:)
Speaking of batteries ...
I have now and again taken a look on eBay...and there seems to be plenty of higher capacity batteries available for the n810 lately...
Polarcell and their ilk ...
Want even longer battery life...grab a few of those 1700 (+ or -) mah batteries..
