official mirrors?

after several "not available" messages for N900 users where telling I thought about setting up "professional" mirroring would be usefull for our community repositories.

For this we need:

an official mirror list in our wiki
rsync at the repository.maemo server
requests send out to mirrors (univerities) all over the planet

and maybe a policy (we should follow what ubuntu and debian does).

For this we could setup:

a mirror URL for traffic sharing (forget it, apt is not able to follow http-redirects...how do I cross text?)
regional mirror URLs
nokia to include it with HAM to have a fallback for future server issues

what do you think?

Sounds sensible to me..... interested to hear if.what any issues may be, but ignoring any, sounds good news :)
