[Question] Fremantle-Harmattan hybrid

What about those who couldn't care less about qwerty, & would prefer more of a hybrid between freemantle & harmattan?

Re: Neo900 - finally a successor of N900

nobody forces 'em to use it. besides, they can start their own project which will fulfill their needs.

It's a bit hard to avoid if it's a central part of the overall construction.

Ah I see, so it's still about that, us & them...

check out the GTA04 sister project, more or less readily available.

and many people thinks that qwerty is one of that things that making N900 so wonderful. as Neo900 is a 'drop-in replacement' for N900, it *absolutely must* have qwerty. so people who don't want it have to choose another device, i think.

So there's work on a freemantle+harmattan hybrid too?
Like the one recently started here for freemantle...

Please take that to the FPTF thread. I already pointed you at the appropriate hardware in my previous post. AFAIK nobody is doing any porting work for fremantle to look like HARM yet. Doesn't make much sense to me, but you're free to discuss and even contribute, over at that other thread.

No, there's none. But just as FPTF was started by people interested in getting Fremantle to work on Neo900, you can start your own HPTF.

It's all matter of people interested in such project. I'm not interested in Harmattan, so I won't contribute, but maybe there'll be enough other people with proper skills?

Anyway, Neo900 project itself, just as GTA04, is not about software. The only connection to software it has is effort to make it compatible with N900, and a side effect of that is some compatibility with Fremantle. The rest is done by FPTF.

Oh there's just as many, if not more, it's just that the task is far, far, more demanding, it's likely we'll never see such a project.
It's somewhat redundant anyway (like FPTF?), as many of the same concepts live on in Nemo/Sailfish (just like of Freemantle's do).

Then why do you ask and put out statements like it's us vs them still?
The tail never wags the dog so if there are people interested+capable to do a hybrid or whatever, it will get done by such people just like how this is being done by interested and capable people who explored for quite some time the feasibility of using the GTA04 board before posting about its possibilities...
