Spontaneous reboots come back
Some time ago I had such a problem: http://talk.maemo.org/showthread.php...52#post1463452
This problem has been occurring quite often (too often for it to be the cause of dirty battery pins). The N900 spontaneously reboots. Then it is running for a couple of minutes and one more reboot. It does not depend on the SIM card's presence. Neither is FS corruption since I did a complete reflash. I had the BME replacement installed. After removing it (don't know whether correctly) with apt-get install bme-rx-51=0.8.55+0m5 dsme-thermalobject-surface=0. 0.1+0m5 hald-addon-bme=0.0.17+0m5 libbmeipc0=0.8.55+0m5 the problem persists. Bending the golden contact points a little is to no avail, neither the metal elements holding the battery. What might it be? Some unrepairable hw damage? |
Re: Spontaneous reboots come back
Do you have the swap space on sd card? Mine reached the maximum number of read/write cycles and caused random reboots. I got the phone's behaviour back to normality by buying a new micro sd

Re: Spontaneous reboots come back
Yep, on micro SD. I'll try it ;)

Re: Spontaneous reboots come back
And is there any way to check whether the SD card has exceeded its cycle limit?

Re: Spontaneous reboots come back
I don't know... Maybe google will tell. Have you noticed any performance slowdown?

Re: Spontaneous reboots come back
Any disk benchmark tool should be able to do it.

Re: Spontaneous reboots come back
or you can reboot and change the swap space to SD card and monitor swap in use from CONKY. The moment it tries to write to swap, it should reboot.
Mine did, about after 20-30mb in SD. It was a card i/o error. And maybe you can use dmesg for given errors. |
Re: Spontaneous reboots come back
For some reason I read the title as spontaneous ROBOTS come back...

Re: Spontaneous reboots come back
So, as the error occurs while writing, I did
Code:
$ cat /dev/zero > /media/mmc1/iotest But it's weird since I bought the card one year ago. Is subject to warranty? /edit: the fsck on my desktop fixed the system without errors. /edit2: the mmc copying is indeed quite slow, but emmc is as well at times, so it might be related to my whole device. /edit3: a lot of Code:
end_request: I/O error, dev mmcblk1 sector <> /edit4: another I/O error while copying data from mmc to pc |
Re: Spontaneous reboots come back
Well I dont really know whats happening, but just to share :
I had this mmc ( 32 gd Sandisk class 10). It works like copy files and stuff but it simply wont adjust a swap on itself. It did everything right except swap. For swap, it used to give those I/O errors adn device used to reboot after 20-30mb of write. Formatted it thousand times but to no avail.. Maybe try a new sd card. Since I/O error is from PC to card too, maybe issue is with card only. |
