Setting up modest to store email archives on the memory card

I have recently reflashed the OS on my Nokia N810. I want to set up the default email client, modest, so that my email archives are saved to either the 2 GB or 8 GB flash memory rather than the 128 mb memory portion of my device. It would be great to hear your advices on that. Thanks.

What I meant specifically is how to link my symbols? i.e. I would like to link my /home/user/ directory from being on the 128 mb memory portion to the internal or external memory card. It would be great to hear from you about it. Thanks.

Re: Setting up modest to store email archives on the memory card

I tried symlinking Modest to a FAT partition, didn't work.
(Conboy and Yellownotes link OK to a FAT parttion.)

I suppose I have to make an extra linux partition on my mmc.
There is a wiki
http://wiki.maemo.org/Moving_system_...o_a_flash_card
which includes some info on mounting such.

Haven't got that far yet, being a Linux beginner.

I am following this guide instead to boot from the internal memory card. http://wiki.maemo.org/Booting_from_a_flash_card

However, I'm lost in the section of cloning to the card. Any pointers?

Re: Setting up modest to store email archives on the memory card

Know Console Tools by Penguinbate ?
( They should really be mentioned in that wiki ! )
http://talk.maemo.org/showthread.php...=console+tools

If making a cloned OS is more important to you than learning how to, use them !
(My knowledge on this is nil.)

There are two programs, pb and pbeasy.
Pbeasy makes cloning a piece of cake.
Pb contains tools for partitioning, formatting, cloning, making backups of partitions etc.

Both are run from the terminal as user, "pb" or "pbeasy", they are self explaining.

I followed the guide, but don't know how to verify whether I did was correct. The guide wasn't very detailed on describing that either. Any tips, anyone?

Afraid I don't understand the question, please be more specific, and which guide ?

If you mean pb and pbeasy, just try to run the programs.
They include several possibilities to abort wrong choices.

If you still mean the wiki on cloning, that is partly beyond me.

Problem solved. The FAQ and instructions weren't very clear. I do wish Mer is mounted on the internal memory card by default so that I don't have to go through this hack again.
