Re: Neo900 - finally a successor of N900

I still have an OpenMoko GTA-02 sitting about 2m from where I am sitting, I dont know how many years since I have tried to boot it, but damn that hockey puck design looks tough.
GDC has delivered before but even the mokos were way behind if I recall correctly, that said it has been declared by GDC that the Neo900 is dead.
The main problem with using an OpenMoko in my experience there was never a firmware/OS which was reliable enough to actually take incoming calls more than 75% of the time.

pichlo ...that really makes it look far wore than my comparison...

Biketool....yup...reliable firmware/os was one of the things that made me shy away from getting one...

So, if the Neo900 is dead, what is Joerg going to do now?

I don't think anybody knows. In case you're wondering about the money, please note that AFAIR they were officially considered "donations" and not some sort of advance payment or such.

The Neo900 is for all I know (and care) a closed issue.

I just hope that Jörg is doing fine.

I think we all feel that both because we appreciate all of his contributions to the community and just because he is a great guy.
With the N900 and Neo900 being curated things of the past I am not terribly suprised he is not still involved as are many of the old TMO crew. Whait is nice is that we have Leste to move forward as a community with our favorite UI but for new and diverse hardware, I feel like it also will serve as a club ID for old Maemo users.
