Nokia Name to Return to Smartphones in Bet on Brand’s Power

Can you believe these f*****g clowns? Reduced to pump & dump using Chinese handsets & spyware from Mountain View. Conmen, thugs and thieves the lot of them.

I think I just died a little again today...

Reminds me of this fine example of what happens when the "money men" take over. Or "Captains of Industry" as they like to refer to themselves in their Rayndian wet dreams.

The Elop Flop worked too well. Microsoft wanted it devalued to buy it cheap... but Elop was too good at his job and even Microsoft couldn't bring it back from such devastating damage. Not even with their golden god of an OS, Windows 10 (the blessings of Balmer be upon it). :P

Agreed. I also think it wasn't so much that MeeGo and Qt was a "burning platform" as it was that it was too good. A very slick OS built with a nicely integrated framework & UI toolkit, which is still being put to good use today. There's no question that MeeGo would have provided a viable path forward for Nokia's smartphones - certainly more viable than any Windows Phone flavour has proven to be. I still prefer my Nokia N9 over any other handset I own, and due to my job I am spoilt with having pretty much all OSes and variants to hand. The "Just Swipe" UI is unbeatable and the experience is more fluid and responsive than anything from Apple & Google. I've got a Jolla as well but although they get the UI mostly right I'm unhappy about its large size, flimsy construction and lack of OLED display.

This is why, every time I hear about another bunch of useless "business development" types going over Nokia's corpse to feed on whatever bits of flesh that haven't yet putrefied, I die a little again. Research, design and engineering are what makes a great company; without these activities underpinning what you do you're just running another vapid pyramid scheme for the gullible.

Same here,

my Jolla is for Playing. The N9 is for daily use.
Still unbeatable.
Before my Provider every year gives me a new phone. Now since 3 years i'am with my N9. Ok. Last year y bought an 64GB unlocked N9.
Still Happy

If I was Nokia I would have gradually phased out Symbian and released as many Meego devices as possible and have a Symbian compatibility layer for Meego so existing Symbian users could easily transition over.

"Intelligent" bathroom scales to carry the Nokia Name in Bet on Brand’s Power.

No really.

Next: a 24k gold plated Nokia cheese grater with iPhone dock.

Intelligent bathroom scale? At least it's not a toilet.

No. It's an "intelligent" bathroom scale. As in infuriatingly stupid, ugly and intrusive.

An intelligent bathroom scale wouldn't waste its time weighing people.

That gives me an idea, sitting outside the arena:
Android water-saver toilets.
Anyone ?
