Re: Last.fm player: Flash not required!

Thanks for the program, the funny thing is I started learning python just to make this application for my nokia n800 because the lastfm protocol itself is sufficiently easy to implement with almost any language. I got as far as installing python and reading some tutorials when I happened to notice this on the maemo planet and thought what a perfect timing =) so now i'm not sure whether to try to implement one myself thanks to your good job. Maybe ill still try just to learn some python.

Yep, damn incredible little app. First streaming tool I've used on the 770 that doesn't crash. It's been running constantly for about 12 hours now without a hitch. Yay!

Re: Last.fm player: Flash not required!

Installed it, started it, found I had to get a last.fm account, made one, entered that first URL and pressed 'Play'.. couldn't have worked better! Nice program, I don't need more than that (I'm fine with the UI). :D

Re: Last.fm player: Flash not required!

Funny thing happened first time I ran Vagalume on my 770 w/ 2006
OS. I clicked Vagalume (it installed to the "extras" folder) and Canola opened! I closed Canola before trying to get it to stream Last Fm. I then opened Vagalume and was able to stream from Last Fm. So, I'm wondering if it's possible to actually use Canola to stream from Last FM. This would be better as Vagalume doesn't allow one to pause a track and it has no volume feature, like Canola.
Any way to do it? It should work as I can stream other internet radio stations with Canola.

Looks like a great little application!
Alberto has more information about the app on his site
http://people.igalia.com/berto/

According to his latest blog, like he's already up to version .3.

Major changes in this release include:
- Support for lastfm://play/ URLs. These are the 30-second previews (and sometimes full-length tracks) that you get clicking on most of the songs in the Last.fm webpage.
- If you click on a lastfm:// link in other application (the web browser, the e-mail client) now it will be opened with Vagalume (Maemo only feature)
- Some of those full-length tracks can be downloaded (see examples below). There’s a new button to download the mp3 file in Vagalume for those tracks. Right now they’re always stored in the Audio Clips folder and there’s no progress bar either, but I’ll improve that in future releases.
- Vagalume shows the album cover of the track being played
- We have new buttons to love, ban and download tracks, and icons for all of them
MoridinBG, you asked:

What about an option to record the tracks?
You can put in a Feature Request on the app's maemo garage page at
https://garage.maemo.org/projects/vagalume

Just updated my 770 with Gregale update (OS 2006). I see the album art, but the 5 buttons below that are not labeled in any way.

DOH!

Is anyone able to play "personal radio" on os2007he?
-I get an error message, even when playing via url...

nspeer 2007-11-22 02:25

Re: Last.fm player: Flash not required!

I think you have to subscribe (pay money) in order to have a "personal radio" on last.fm
