Helsinki City Bikes

http://otsaloma.io/pub/helsinki-city-bikes.png

Locations and real-time occupancy of Helsinki city bike stations.

Included are all Helsinki Region Transport (HSL) city bike stations. Data is real-time from the Digitransit HSL API, updated in the app about once a minute.

See info on city bikes and the official web interface.

Download at OpenRepos.

Source code and issue tracker at GitHub.

Helsinki City Bikes is no longer maintained. Users should switch to Pan Bikes, which is a broader and better continuation of the same codebase and supports Helsinki among many other cities.

You don't want to develop a similar app for the Nextbike system, do you?
It's one I'm still missing on Sailfish

I'm considering switching to the citybik.es API, thus making the app global. Can you check if that covers your city?

Re: Helsinki City Bikes

They (PyBikes, the backend of citybik.es) do seem to have some Nextbike cities. If your city is missing, you can file an issue to have it added. It's probably trivial for them to add another city if they already have code to read the Nextbike API.

However, if with Nextbike, you need an app to unlock the bike or something, then it's a way different problem and out of scope for me. I'd only do the display of stations on a map and their status, which is a common enough thing that can be done globally.
