Camera phone competition April 2019: Three of a Kind

Looks like fooxl may be busy, so by request I'll make up a topic.

And that topic is "Three of a Kind". I see no reason one couldn't interpret this as broadly as one likes -- and if the judges like it too, you win! Animals, columns, flowers, abstractions -- if you see three things that are sufficiently similar in some way, you may have your entry.

Good luck and have fun.

Rules are as usual (and just copied here with date updated):
  • Photos must be taken during this month (after theme is announced) and posted before voting starts
  • Photos must be taken by the posting member
  • Photos must be taken with a camera phone
  • Users post only one photo per entry
  • Users can change the entry only once
  • Users must name the phone they used (and software if not stock)
  • Post processing is allowed but you have to say what you did
  • 3 days voting period starts on April 27th at 20:00 UTC

Is there still offer for online storage for competition pictures? I am ashamed to ask but I don't have any and some people here require better quality pictures. I took already my photo for this contest.

imgur.com

Last time I checked, it allowed an anonymous upload. Worth checking again.

I am a firm believer in self-containment. The competition runs here, so we should use the infrastructure available here. It is not the contestants' fault that it is less than optimal. The judges should take that into account or make sure that the infrastructure is up to scratch.

HDD, USB Stick and a CD. What they have in common?

Picture taken by my sick bed where I have been lying for a week now. The living room floor is filled with old computers, cds and pcmcia card and floppydisks, the kitchen is filled with parts of a 100 year old accordion which I bought on thursday and took it apart and trying to repair.

Pieces are put together with beewax and I have to use the same old method which is new to me.

Wife and kids away for a week and the house is a mess nicely speaking.

Consider yourself lucky. My house is a mess when my wife and kids are in. :D

That's what I thought you were going for in the picture -- it is rather moody I guess is the word. Can certainly get interesting results with BlessN900, can't we?

Hope you're feeling better soon. As Pichlo said, my house is a disaster when the wife and kids are here, so you've got that going for you.

Also, and accordion? That sounds like quite a project. Perhaps "musical instruments" or "things that could get you arrested" will be a theme in the future . . .

But again, feel better soon.

Good to see the competition entered self-sustain-mode :)

My entry taken with XA2 are three open blossoms facing the camera.
Took the efford and staged the orchid outside since i did not get enough light indoors.
Colors and brightness are untouched. Learned from my fail with overdriven willow- and grassgreen last time

Is it taken with stock camera or Adam's advanced camera? It looks great!! (and fits the theme so well!) :D

Stock camera this time since i can not make out difference in picture quality with my limited skills and just hit the camera button when the sun suddenly came out.
Holding still probably had more impact than the software :D
I used a "Gorilla Pod" to make the phone bigger and hold it more tightly.

Well, it might :o
But it is super comfy and tight. Indexfinger is laying on the dedicated cam button. The thumb can do settings or also press virtual cam button.
Feels like holding a compact camera.

Image only to show off, not entry/competition related.

Thanks, sorry... I think I might actually overwrite both of them with a better one... I was more in the realm of humor. Is that ok? I'll jist pick one and leave it if it's too obnoxious ...

Well it was a hard fight and it took ages. It seemed to be a nearly impossible task and I seriously thought about giving up. Especially on that point, when I finally achived three sixes, but I recognized, that there was a further one. That would have been four of a kind, so I started all over again, rolling the dices one hour after the other. Finally yesterday I got the big throw and fortune wad on my side: Three sixes lying side by side. Puhhhh!
;):D

Maan, i thought putting the Phalaenopsis outside and wait for the sun was hard but your effort is what i call true dedication. Since you mentioned i see the picture with whole new eyes. The dice assemble resembles placement according to Japanese sandgarden rules if you look long enough :D

"Flowers of Technology"

http://www.swagman.org/juice/Dandelions.jpg

Taken with SFOS/XperiaX, slightly cropped & unsharp mask.

The image is part of an art installation exhibited in really dark room so it was difficult to get a sharp and evenly exposed image when holding the phone in hand.

Couldn't find my deck of cards and I'm a lousy poker player anyway, so it would probably take days for me to get three of any kind. ;)
Instead I decided to check out my stone miniature collection and these beautiful miniature urns was taken out on a photo session in my garden.

Sony Xperia X and stock photo app

Not sure if it fits the topic... I was focusing on the three bunches of leaves, the green and red growth in the center of the photograph, just off the trunk of the tree.

Thank you. Best wishes.

But 2x 9 and 1x 8 is not 'three of a kind', or? :p

What kind of bow they are shooting with? I made an english longbow with people who compete with traditional bows. I had find some good pieces of wood and wanted to contribute them to the right people and they in exchange taught me to make that bow and gave me a buinch of arrows too.

I have no idea what it is called. Some kind of recurve, PVC with a wooden riser.
It was not theirs. We went to some outdoor activity centre and they provided their own equipment.
It looked very much like this: http://www.lancasterarchery.com/gala...curve-bow.html

Not for the competition but so proud so want to share. I had a crappy cheap metaldetectorish which I used on saturday in Hattula, near Hämeenlinna in Finland. 6-8 hours walked the fields and picked up metal trash. At last found that smaller ball which I assume is from a musket gun. They have found a lot of those on a nearby field. Then on sunday I gave my detector to one young kid whose parents just divorced and who was very fond of the machine when I let him search with it. Today bought a proper metal detector (had used that cheap crappy one for two years). Searched and walked ten meters when got a signal and found that 5cm diameter and 376g weight iron ball. Tried to search information and closest comes a ball they used to stuck 5-6 pieces in a clothesbag and shoot it with a cannon. That would date it to around 1600-1700. Still have to try to find more info before saying for sure. But Garret Ace 300i seems a very good detector and I'm glad I finally decided to put money on a proper detector.

Edit: Darn. My wife says the ball is a trailer knob ffrom an old Datsun, one friend that it is a dinosaur poo, and one friend gave the best possible explanation: hight knob they drill to rocky hills abnd paint red. Really have to find out somehow.

Best thing I ever found with cheap Radio Shack (RIP) metal detector was half of a rusty old roller skate buried in my parents' back yard.

And contest entry coming soon(TM).

I bet it was not a dinosaur. It was a dragon. Who ate a knight. In full armour. The only way to poop iron balls.

Re: Camera phone competition April 2019: Three of a Kind

Yesterday visited a museum office and an archeologist confirmed it to be a cannon ball from 1600-1700 era. Kartessi cannon. They really wanted to know where I found it cause it to be found in Espoo on an area not typically thought to be a battle field was interesting. Went again yesterday evening and found another one two meters from the first. Made a found report on the museum website and now waiting if they contact in anyway. But I didn't need to give it away and didn't deny of further digging. Gonna probably go today again.
