I found jabber port to Facebook !

https://jabber.no-sense.net

Work perfect on N9 again!

Create account on this jabber server and make connection to Facebook using gateway.

And next configure on N9 using Jabber/XMPP protocol account
All friends from Facebook automatically import to you phone.

You need to attach an jabber account with facebook !
using jabber client app on Your PC

Looks like I succeeded in registering and connecting Facebook via Gajim..but I still don't know how to sync FB contacts on the N900. Does anybody know how to do that??

@branja i test it on n900 and works:)
1. install extraplugins for chat
2. im message-new services -jabber
3.your jabber acc & pass and server : jabber.no-sense.net
4.install gajin on windows and populate with jabber id then serch for services for transport,choose fb then login to your fb for adding permisson for fetcing contacts.

Ok, I succeeded in adding FB contacts...but, there are no names and avatars, only numbers@jabber.no-sense.net.
How to know who is who? Should I add them for chat somehow?

Do you in step 4 fetch contacts with gajim program?
Gajim transport numbers to names and avatars..

I fetched the contacts from Gajim. It is almost sorted by names by now. Which is great. But, unfortunately, even if I find a contact by name and write to him messages are not received. :(

I got many asking for permission to be friend which I was confirmed in Gajim and N9, so on N900 conntacts just appear by name and avatar, and i can send and recive fb message.

I dont like FB posts. (Well technically I cannot say for sure as I never have read facebook... but I assume so with great pride...)

This is just for messaging on Facebook. It is not a Facebook client.

Create a jabber.no-sense.net account.
Download Gajin on your desktop.
Sign in, search for services, follow prompts for accessing Facebook account.
Allow access to all Facebook contacts to be able to see contact name and avatar.

Add XMPP account in Sailfish settings.
Now Facebook messaging through XMPP is an available choice in the messaging app.

Every time that Gajim connects to facebook my account gets locked and I have to change the password. Then I have to change the password in Gajim and I get re-locked. How to solve this issue?

Thank you, it works (so far) with my n9! i.e. chat with one facebook contact!

I also have problems with importing the contacts.

I don't see emoticons (just a rectangle).:( I think generally on chats, is there a fix?

Does facebook group chat work? (I installed mutli user plugin, it works with jabber accounts to some extent - I didn't get all messages and could not (re)enter a chat after leaving/ reconnecting, i haven't tried with facebook chat)

I had the same problem locking in for the FIRST TIME (facebook made me change the passwort although I I clicked on, yes, it was me who logged in), then it worked for me though.

Conclusion after some months:
It works (chat via jabber/xmpp that is getting messages in real time on the n9)

Issues:
I had to accept each contact manually (and as you don't see the names in the list, you have to go trough them all even if youre just looking for one contact... also you don't want these questionmarkt that don't vanish in your notifications), and I had to do that more than once each as at least once it "forgot" them and I had to accept them again. but now for some months it works I only have to accept new friends

The emoticons used in facebook (messenger) can't be displayed. (sometimes there is a link to a page with a thumbs up for instance).

Groupchat doesn't work. that means if you get a message for more people and answer that won't reach the recipients!

/me also wondering, how it could be, that Nokia N9 Facebook Account still works in 2018. Including notifications, chat, and contact sync.
Old Software, without any development and updates?

How it could be possible ?

Why we can not have the same on our SailfishOS devices?

I did it on N9.
The process with Gajim on PC, using the jabber.no-sense.net server.
Then I accepted a lot of friend requests.

But today I see everyone as offline...
Will investigate.

It is not the case anymore or I'm wrong? I was forced to go back to n900 for few months. Yesterday I dusted off my n9, reflashed it and cannot log ino facebook through native app, anyone else got similar problem?

I cannot even log on through jabber the same is for notifications and else as I described above.

Sorry, chatting via jabber works just fine, still bulid-in app doesnt, somebody knows why, or it is just me having this problem?
