A clue is usually shipping time and by including a sheet of paper with return contact details in Ireland, it can be a means of circumventing custom duties if sent to address in Europe.

Yes, something like that. But a link that still works. At least that one for me reported, upon trying to buy, that it's out of stock. Unless I misinterpreted the message somehow.

Back in November, I tried buying one from Sony France but they wouldn't process the order, emailling that they didn't ship to the UK.


My next port of call (ie. next cheapest at the time) was Amazon Italy who did ship. I'm a bit wary of who I buy from, and with it being a foreign language that I don't understand (I used the Chrome browser to translate the site), I made sure the seller was Amazon itself and not a marketplace seller.


So Amazon might be somewhere you can find them, though this site might be useful to you in finding a seller, but I urge you to exercise some caution to ensure you're buying from a legit seller:

BTW, please make sure you any device you buy can have it's bootloader be unlocked, as with the X, network locked devices (or those that had previously been locked) are no good to us.

I just followed the link and it says the seller is on holiday until the 12th of February...

As long as bluetooth is not working correctly in Sailfish I will stick to my OnePlus X.

Please be aware that in link given @ Post#8 from previous buyer feedback, it would appear this Sony Xperia XA2 PLUS H4493 64Go 6Go RAM Dual Sim sourced from Hong Kong was without LTE20 (800Mhz) support.

The buyer wrote this about it "Envoi très rapide, produit conforme, sauf pour LTE20 (800Mhz) non supporté."
And with this ends my quest for a Sony Xperia Plus H4493 64GB haha

I've got mine here on ebay. It had some Asian mutation of Android, but not a big issue when one aims to Sailfish it anyways.

Maybe I don't understand why LTE20 is important. To me it seems like most European countries has other bands that also H4493 support?

Phone arrived today from UK, 1 day early of ebay estimation. Its a new one, works well with my SIM and Android showed me LTE+ connection. Works well with SFOS too. Just installed it.

I still suspect it originates from China / Hong Kong due to chinese packing tape etc but who cares because it works very well :) And they all are made in China anyway.

I also ordered one awhile back from ebay seller that seems to reside in Hong Kong. The together link only concretely talked that rural Germany has problems with the missing LTE band. Since I don't live in rural Germany, I think I can manage with 3G when I visit there.

It'll still take probably some weeks before I receive the device, and I can then either report my utter disappointment or a success of the gamble.

I'm using mine with the French Operator « Free Mobile » without any troubles, even with no LTE20 (800Mhz) support...

And It is possible to unlock the bootloader.

I bought my 4493 from imobile_us on ebay.ie and they shipped from the UK the next day! Pretty happy with the service and was able to unlock the bootloader and flash sailfish without hassle.

My carrier uses band 3 and band 20 and have no real issues with mobile data after a few weeks use.

Word of warning though, the 4493 is not supported by EMMA so you cant use the tool to flash back to android. You can download the HK firmware from xperifirm if you need it.

I bought it second hand
no problem so far, just check if it's bootload unlocked in the developper mode.
