I don't have any experience with IRC, but i can try if that's best. I will try as soon as I can get to a computer.

Is it normal for warehouse to automatically close after installing / uninstalling / reinstalling app?

No it is not. What version do you use? did you just installed it, or get an update from the older version?

mcbook 2013-10-25 19:50

Maybe due to openmode?

they should not overlap. the only thing is security attributes change at 0.1.3.
best way is to uninstall warehouse, reboot phone, install 0.1.3 again.

saleki 2013-10-25 20:17

When installing from local file, browser closes too. Wtf?! Maybe it has nothing to do with warehouse. ..

i dont think this is related to warehouse. seems like phone is out of memory, and oom_killer shutdown applications to free some.

mcbook 2013-10-26 06:11

For me all apps close after I install something... Has been so ever since I flashed to openmode...

I also have openmode. So it's normal then?

Also to me occurs the above since I installed Wharehouse.

PS: On my system I installed the CODeRUS trusted repo package.

Dont mislead users. This is happening only when you reinstall warehouse.
Since warehouse provide own origin for all openrepos application, pocily is reapplied for all apps installed from openrepos.
Also, you should not use dpkg to install warehouse.

I future, origin will be provided in separate package. So no more messages on reinstallation.

Openmode have trigger on installation which *may* closes all apps.
Dont know actually what causes this. if you can provide app name will take closer look.

I installed Warehouse only one time via your OpenRepos, but subsequent installations, of other apps, showed me zaidk9's errors.

yes, you both are right. seems like one of aegis tokens is still missing. Will check that.
For now, just ignore those AID warnings ;)

Re: [Announce][WIP] Warehouse - native client for OpenRepos.net

Custodian, I think you should add some series of "flags" to application pages so publisher could identify special steps required to install this application.

For example reaver package could only be installed under aegised shell (opensh/ariadne sh) with source check turned off or on openmode kernel. All libraries could only be installed with dpkg -i. Maybe some applications require inception or aegis-install. And so on.

Warehouse is store-like appliction for user-space openrepos applications.

Currently, warehouse dont work with complicated packages. And I dont think that it will ever do. Only option for them will be "download raw deb package" for manual installation.
Libraries will be installed only as dependencies(if needed by any package).

If you need something special, you always can use your favorite tool for package installation. If you know that you need that package, and it requires openmode kernel, and you know what it is, you know how to install package without warehouse.

As for flags - publisher can specify any special actions required at application description.

mcbook 2013-10-26 12:55

About that "app closing issue"...

tried it with ocho 0.0.9 from here http://talk.maemo.org/showthread.php?t=89495&page=1

closed all open apps...

coderus 2013-10-26 13:59

Re: [Announce][WIP] Warehouse - native client for OpenRepos.net

@mcbook just reflash to stock firmware and have fun with it. stop asking about closing application in every thread about any application to be installed, after you reflashed to openmode without reading possible openmode issues.

mcbook 2013-10-26 15:32

What are you taking about?

I asked once in another thread and I answered to a question in this thread!

No more, no less...

custodian offered to take a look at that if someone pointed out an app where this happens (at least in my understanding)

btw. this is getting OT so...

I think you should make some kind of warning from this statement and show it every time when someone is trying to add new application to OpenRepos. Because, for the present momnet, there are no apps that have any kind of install instructions for special cases.

And this is bad - specialized content distribution systems like OpenRepos should be as user-friendly as possible.

Thats not a point. Publisher can "forget"(or whatever) to check flags.
Apps for usersection can be installed with out any special action. Already. And you dont need all other packages, unless you are knowing what you are doing.

I'm asking you to add a warning message to the OpenRepos so the publisher will not forget to mension how to install the app.

What is user section? You don't have such a section on OpenRepos. As I mentioned earlier, reaver resides in Utilities section and can't be installed even with simple dpkg -i.

Publisher know what it is. It's not a category at openrepos site.

You dont need this application to be installed on you phone. If you do, you know how to install it. Warehouse cannot install openmode or whatever you want, and cannot read your mind.
Warehouse is store-like client for user section application. Same application as avaiable at OVI-Store. You cannot publish reaver application at Store.

Openrepos is not a Store. It's a repository system, with some extra funtionality.

I think publishers don't know about user section either.

Please stop this flame. This wont be added in near future.
Publisher can upload whatever he want to his personal repository.
And if you cannot install applicaiton via warehouse, then YOUR phone DOESNT MEET application requirements.

If publisher doesnt know about this, his apps would not be installable directly via warehouse. only as deps. thats it. comply harmattan packaging policy.

PIDk 2013-10-26 23:05

Re: [Announce][WIP] Warehouse - native client for OpenRepos.net

Custodian, alrigt. So you just don't care what stuff will be added to OpenRepos. It's ok, as long as you don't position your site as Store replacement.

But if I were you, and wanted to make a frontend app with some nice userfriendly functionality, I'd have some kind of control over what apps should be visible to the target user. Because "if you cannot install applicaiton via warehouse, then your phone doesn't meet non-existent application requirements" attitude is totally not the one that user expects from Store-like kind of app.

Have you tried to contact the author of the reaver package, NielDK ? I think it is up to the author document the limitations of each software, not Custodian responsibility.

Custodian I don't understand how to update application without remove installed one. If I have installed previous version (e.g. MeeCell 0.2) wharehouse shows me version installed package when OpenRepos already have new one version (MeeCell 0.3). So There is no way to update application but remove it and install again new one version. Where I'm wrong?

Currently, you have to fetch repository info(at profile tab), or wait until system does an update, so OTA update will be available.
When repository info will be updated, you can either use ota update, or press "Upgrade" button at application page.

Basically it means that package does not provide suitable launcher icon for home screen. So it cannot be launched without terminal usage, and, probably, you dont need this package.

No, it does not.
Currently, Warehouse cannot install non-user packages. All those packages require specific knowledge.
Because if it will your next question will be "how i should launch that application? why there is no icon?".

Probably you subscribed to wrong repository: "appsformeego" instead of "vasvlad".
