On day 112 I noticed the built-in browser (grob) and email client (fenix) could no longer access the network, although Wazapp, QmlMozBrowser had no problems. Also the 'Connect to internet' dialog which gives a choice of networks would not appear. I found a temporary solution in this thread, which was to run: Code:
/sbin/initctl restart xsession/icd2 The 'Connect to internet' dialog still did not work. On day 113 I was using navigation in Nokia Drive and lost GPS signal due to a rain storm. The GPS icon continued to flash next to the time display for hours after I had closed Nokia Drive. I couldn't use GPS functionality in any other application. I was able to solve this by killing /usr/bin/positioningd. On day 115 my N9 switched off while sounding my wake up alarm. I think I didn't plug it in to charge the previous day. After allowing it to fully charge, I switched it on again and the problem with the 'Connect to internet' dialog, the built-in browser and email had gone. |
Re: How is your N9 longest uptime ?
Day 76. At about the same time, Wazapp delivered my last sent message about 30 times, I could no longer send SMS (tapping the Send button did nothing), my 3G connection was no longer listed as a possible internet connection and Mobile Network Settings showed a SIM card error:
http://i40.tinypic.com/kej31f.png I activated Airplane Mode and deactivated it again, but no change. I was able to receive SMS but not send, but was able to make and receive phone calls. I closed and opened Wazapp and it wanted me to register again. I found the following in /var/log/syslog Code:
Aug 22 21:01:58 (2013) icd2 0.213.4+0m8[1245]: [GPRS] not correctly registered to network |

Re: How is your N9 longest uptime ?
I'm back at 8 days uptime again. :(
I almost made 124 days, but I installed MeeFox, visited http://html5test.com/, took a screenshot of the score with ShotMee, tried to email it to a friend and my N9 locked up completely and I had to hold the power button in until it switched off. http://i43.tinypic.com/21epeh.png The only new trick I learned this time was how to get the Accuweather widget to start updating again after being in Flight Mode, from this thread: Code:
/sbin/initctl restart xsession/msyncd |
Re: How is your N9 longest uptime ?
I still don't get it how you do it guys. I have to reboot everyday, sometimes even more frequent, because my n9 stops receiving smses.

Re: How is your N9 longest uptime ?
I have a strange problem, I am hoping someone can help. Some of my apps can't access internet anymore! My phone is connected to 3G and I am online on my IM accounts, but neither my browser not my weather app access internet. They just sit there with a "loading" squircle doing nothing. My 3G icon never goes blue, so I know they're not accessing data. Store app doesn't load either... basically, none of the apps are able to access internet except my IM accounts!
I'd really appreciate any help... thanks in advance :) |

Try to ping some FQDN and it's numeric IP address. If resolving is the problem then the first one fails and second succeeds :D |

Re: How is your N9 longest uptime ?
I ran into another problem :(
My wifi stopped working all of a sudden! I restarted icd2 earlier today when my apps couldn't connect to internet. Everything seemed okay (I was connected to 3G). Once I got home, I expected my phone to switch to wifi but it didn't. What's strange is it doesn't even detect any wifi networks...! When I try to connect to my home wifi manually by going to "Edit Networks", it says "Can't connect to internet". I searched a lot but couldn't find anything that solved the issue. I tried restarting icd2 again. I also tried restarting wlanmod (/sbin/inictl restart xsession/wlanmod). That didn't help... Can anyone help please? |
Re: How is your N9 longest uptime ?
What about posting in right (problem solution, could also maybe new?) thread?
Did you reboot? |
Re: How is your N9 longest uptime ?
I wasn't sure if it was worth creating a new thread... I didn't want to reboot because I wanted to keep the uptime high! :) but I think I'd just go ahead and do it...

Re: How is your N9 longest uptime ?
Hi,
My longest uptime of N9 in heavy daily use has never been longer than a few days. There are two reasons for 95% of reboots: Reason 1: battery running empty. This is the known issue of suddenly dropping from 44% to 4% and mostly happens to me in two cases: Case 1.1: driving with Waze+GPS+screen constantly on+active bluetooth connection to car audio. I'm also using a car charger CellularLine roller which does not have the "insufficient power" issue, but the net effect of charging and heavily using power at the same time is still that battery gets slightly emptier over time. So it has ran out while the charger is actually connected. This happens when battery was already near empty before. So i created a low battery profile in Profilematic that kills navi and music apps when battery becomes less than 10%. Case 1.2: Longer training session (several hours of biking, running, adventure sports) with MeeRun+GPS+active bluetooth connection to HR belt. I'm thinking of buying an external battery pack for that, such as PowerMonkey Discovery. Does anyone have experience if that or some other particular model works or does not work with N9? Reason 2: GPS hangs. This happens to me about a couple of times a month or so, when i start any app that uses GPS. The GPS status indicator is blinking, app does not get GPS info, and the indicator remains blinking after that until i reboot. Toggling flight mode does not help. The Settings -> Device -> GPS and Positioning menu content also does not respond in this case. Does anyone know of some other trick or command-line command to recover from hanging GPS without reboot? Sorry for long story and little off-topic.. Edit: yes Powermonkey seems to work with N9. k6ps |

Re: How is your N9 longest uptime ?
Nowadays that my Jolla has taken most of the duties from the N9 (but not yet all of them!), and there is not much development/testing going on, I rarely need to reboot my N9 and so uptime is clocking up today at 202 days:

Guys how do you manage these uptimes? Do you use commands like killall etc? Or scripts?

Re: How is your N9 longest uptime ?
Just had to check something from my N9, and noted that I currently seem to have fairly respectable uptime on it :D
Good and stable kernel we have there, the 2.6.32.61-plus ~ $ ~ $ uname -a Linux RM696 2.6.32.61-plus #1 PREEMPT Fri Nov 15 11:56:56 EET 2013 armv7l GNU/Linux ~ $ ~ $ uptime 14:19:39 up 445 days, 3:58, load average: 0.00, 0.01, 0.00 ~ $ |
