Strange, errors param has been always been there.

You could try if you have more luck with 2.7.8 version:

Thanks, but using 2.7.8 I get a bucketload of errors trying to install setuptools from tarball...

I wanted to install gcalcli, which requires python >= 2.6

Pretty disheartening...
