Why so many N950s missing rear covers?

Hi all,
I've seen a few N950s for sale on Ebay and most of them are missing their rear covers. Why is this? Are they prone to breaking?

Thanks for the tips to use those apps. I'm currently having difficulty accessing maemo.org/packages but I found the Screen Light app for the N9 on my-symbian.com/meego and Health Check for the N900...
