Re: Latest batch of updates --> looping boot

OK, if you have fanoush's initfs setup (I did, but hadn't yet cloned the OS to the MMC card), you can download the dev firmware tarball from here (http://tablets-dev.nokia.com/d1.php), untar it to...

Re: nWiki - mini-Wikipedia on your N800

The sdict version is available through other sources too - sdict.com had trouble delivering the whole file for a while. I uploaded the files to megaupload and another host, see here...

Re: Can the background be changed to whatever image you want?

Yup. Just click on the Home menu, and then "Set Background Image". You can browse any file if the included ones don't please your tastes. Couldn't get much easier!

Re: Thanks!

Well, like most of you, I have too many to thank individually, but there are a few that come immediately to mind that need singling out.

1. Gnuite, for maemo-mapper. Definitely a "killer app",...

Re: N800 USB Host Mode Experiment

I agree, copy/paste is always nicer than typing, but there's two other ways around this.
1. The symbols section of the stylus board has the underscore (and the pipe character, which can be hard to...

Re: sdict Wikipedia

OK, here's volume 2, in 2 parts (400MB & ~100M). They're posted on megaupload.com. I'm currently uploading volume 3, will post links soon. Still can't get volume 1.

Re: Bluefish on N800

OK, bluefish compiles cleanly, and runs on the tablet. Not sure how usable it is, given the small screen size and fairly busy UI (much like gftp that I compiled a few weeks ago). It requires...

I've compiled gftp for the n800. It's not nicely packaged yet, nor hildonized, but it works to graphically connect to SFTP machines, which I could never get the maemo-hackers file manager to do. ...

Samsung Q1 Ultra Mobile PC $649.99 on Woot

Woot is currently (May 30, 2007, 5:50 PM) the Samsung Q1 UMPC. It's in their "Woot-Off" format, and will probably only last a couple of hours, so now's your chance!

Re: google maps kml files in maemo mapper?

You might be able to convert the .kml to .gpx via gpsbabel, but see gnuite's reply to your question about importing .gpx files - it's likely that you'll have to massage the gpx files into shape by...

Win98 running on tablet - No VNC!

...but rather through bochs! Just a recompile of the debian arm port of bochs. Because Win98 works, any DOS-based windows should work (95, 3.x, ME), as well as plain dos, and several small Linux...

Re: Onscreen keyboard ctrl and alt keys?

My current version of xterm (from maemo-hackers.org, I believe) is 0.13.mh24bora1, and has the sidebar which has a ctrl key available. I don't need alt very often, so I haven't looked into...
