Question A little confuised on the N900/Maemo haters... please explain.

I don't want to start an argument here or anything but I have noticed that many people who dislike the N900 was because of the "lack of apps" - now I can understand if they were only downloading from...

Re: Meego vs Android apps (C or Java?)

Been to Apple's app store lately? Your first choice: select either the iPhone app store, or the iPad app store. Check out the Ovi store some time; it's more unified than Apple's store, but you...

Re: Meego vs Android apps (C or Java?)

I see the difference; but I don't really see it as a problem. If you're developing commercial closed-source software, you don't actually want people casually copying your software from device to...

Re: Meego vs Android apps (C or Java?)

Yet most major Linux distributions do so handily. Fedora, Debian, and Ubuntu all offer ARM builds alongside x86. MeeGo does as well. Hell they all do it when you get the differentiation between...

Re: Meego vs Android apps (C or Java?)

Let me throw the question back at you -- why do you think the use of Java or some other interpreted language avoids the issue of different hardware platforms? Right now, if you want to develop for...

Re: With the E7-00 coming next month, is anyone jumping ship?

You bring up a really good point. It seems to me that the OS of a solid busness phone, not a tablet but a phone, should be uninteresting. It should work, work well and not cross the end user's mind....

[Maemo5]Pingus - a Lemmings clone (now in Extras-Devel!)

What is this?

As the thread name says I made port of lemmings clone Pingus to N900. Although Lemmings can already be played trough emulation I tough having something native for the N900 would be...

Re: Android 2.2 iPad Alternatives

I know this isn't of any importance nor does it help you; however I'm not a big fan of copies of bad ideas - better tablets exist than the iPad. Heck, the fact that the Galaxy Tab, albeit flawed,...

Re: Can't boot MeeGo

Nope, I'm no English teacher. I'm not even English. I just find that trying to read a question that is written in infernal text speak, and without the correct punctuation makes it difficult and...

Re: NITDroid Gingerbread in work!

For what it's worth, as a Motorola Droid owner (running 2.2.1 right now),a device that was released at 450MHz and newer stock kernels ramped up to 600MHz, with kernels to safely ramp it up as fast as...

Re: [Council] State of Maemo, Q32010.2

I always hate posts that comprise massive walls of text and still manage to say absolutely nothing.

Or is "god I hope we're still relevant next year" all we got from the meego conference?

Re: [Council] State of Maemo, Q32010.2

If you write a Qt application (e.g. Qt Quick with or without a C++ backend), sure. If you write a pure Gtk+ (or, rather, Hildon) application, it's possible.

However, the point here is that you can...

Re: AGPS no longer working?

AGPS still works for me, it's the GPS part that's always been broken. If you can't get a fix:

switch the GPS off
delete /var/lib/gps/nvd_data
switch the GPS back on again
