Re: Browsers on Leste

Nice to see these tests - thanks for sharing. A browser that works on the N900 (even if it is slow) would be nice.
I've used https://surf.suckless.org/ on easydebian in the past when i was...

Re: New Nokia N900 in 2019

In the Netherlands it depends on the carrier. I am using the one from KPN and I am covered with 2G until the end of 2025.

It will end one day though. After that the N900 could still function as a...

Re: I'm back!

Tried it on my Droid4 and indeed emacs works. I do like the keyboard on the N900 more though.

N900 is for me like an old familiar car.
Not that fast, spare parts are not available anymore, less...

Re: Maemo-Leste pre-alpha announcement

Quote from another thread.

I have no idea how many people are still using the N900, but I still prefer the hardware compared to my Droid4.
Use them both, so i certainly appreciate work...

Re: Maemo-Leste pre-alpha announcement

Fantastic update!
Looking forward to try it out on one of my spare N900's. Very curious about the phone call capabilities and all other improvements.

Re: Some questions about N900

Only a few games work with it and from what I've understood you need specific versions also. Still a technical achievement and might be interesting for someone. ...

Re: Some questions about N900

Nice, congrats - seems like you've done a lot of stuff already. IMO that is already quite a challenge.

1. Can't help you there sorry.
2. Haven't installed them myself, but there are a ton...

Re: What to get to replace my N900?

Too bad the phone didn't provide what you needed :(
Leste is indeed not ready for prime time yet and (depending on your needs) might never be good enough on N900/Droid4. Hardware can be the...

Re: What to get to replace my N900?

Not sure if you are still interested. Noticed 8 droid4's were posted today on ebay from the same seller from Italy. Price is not too bad and ships worldwide. Of course shipping can be expensive...

Re: Maemo-Leste pre-alpha announcement

Indeed I've seen a video of a Droid 4 from August that rings and the phone can be 'picked up'.
See post from Pavel from 2018 - Droid 4 was already capable of calling. ...

Re: Maemo-Leste pre-alpha announcement

Read the article and the tweet you are referring to. Positive news but I am not convinced this will lead to working calls on the N900. I would gladly be totally wrong though :)

Re: Maemo-Leste pre-alpha announcement

Not sure what tweet gave you that idea. Nothing in the issue list that mentioned a break through as well.

Re: What to get to replace my N900?

Best method is probably save a search term on ebay (' xt894' should do the trick)
Used to have plenty available via ebay (mainly from US) but the stock seems to have dried up.

Re: Hint links devices for sale online

:D Good luck with that. Still 16 available.

BTW I did buy some of my N900's for 25€ a few years ago - so it's not impossible.

Re: Hint links devices for sale online

Nice - if you buy 4 or more it is 67,15€

60 € shipment outside of Germany though so that increases costs (especially if you only want one).
Will be interesting to see how long it will take to...

Re: Maemo Leste Playground - Droid4 Batteryhack

Nice!
I still have a few spare batteries, so not immediately needed. Still interested though, what is battery life? Can you share what kind of battery is used?

Re: What's the best Handheld gnu/linux machine for 20XX?

This is basically a 'hobby project' and most people paying upfront are still enthusiasts and love this product.
Unlike other projects you could get your money back as well without any problem....

First Pyra's shipped to the pre-pre order group.

Re: Emoji SMS not be received

You might not need or want to use emoji's yourself but it is good to know if a sender has sent you a happy face or a middle finger.
