It has crossed my mind too but it does not explain why it runs sometimes and also why it has problem running from the memory card as well.

it is possible that the flashed does not have the executable bit set.
try
chmod +x flasher-3.0 in the flasher directory.
also it those files are on fat32 external hd or flash drive then it...

Ok I believe I have sorted the problem. It was after all one of the memory cards. I do not know whether one of them was damaged or simply partition table got corrupted but the N800 is running diablo...

yes I did try without both cards and no I haven't try to restore anything from backup. I have looked in dmesg after enabling rd-mode and it looks like sapwood server is segfaulting in each case. I...
