...i would like to mention that Opera on Maemo was one of the reasons that i switched to Opera on the desktops too ;)

At least in my case, it is caused by the old .opera/ds/1_plugins file. Copying it over the new .opera/ds, where it doesn't exists by default, triggers the bug.
It just contains 1 byte with the value...

There was indeed an issue with promotion of non-free apps without sources. This should now be fixed and the package should show up within half an hour.

I added ohrn as maintainer for the package, so he should be able to push this package to testing for fremantle and Extras for diablo.
