Nokia Software Update is allowing me to reinstall the same firmware it has in (PR 1.2)
Dunno if that is the case for everybody, but is for me.

Do you have an application from the OVI store installed called WiKI HOW or somesuch?
If so, remove it and enjoy your new space and never, ever install that POS again. :)

df -h [enter]

you can open it by using the shortcut too: in the hardware keyboard, push ctrl+shift+x.

seems like you have the rootfs filled up.
Open a konsole, and tell us the output of this command

Yes, sounds like tracker. This runs to index all the media on your N900, which can take a while (and impacts everything else). After it's done, it should return to normal though. You can check...

That is not "sync", that is just copying/pasteing.
However, when you connect your N900 to a PC you can manage folders, create new ones and organize your music collection as you want.
