Funnily enough my best (and oldest, since 2010) N900 is also HW revision 2204. Lost the USB port after 2 years though, and now it seems to be developing the GSM issue. Either that or the batteries...

I already use "volumecontroldaemon" which allows me to squeeze that bit of extra power when listening to music.
But, when you do "alsamixer -c0" in the terminal, it still shows "-5.40dB"....
