Re: How to read SMS from the CLI?
Possible workaround: Start a VNC server (x11vnc) on the N900, and port-forward it via SSH, then use a VNC Client to view and interact with the screen :)

Re: bugs.maemo.org Certificate expired!
A new one may be started eventually, but I don't think the current data will be preserved. I asked about the possibility of getting a dump a couple of times, but apparently the db contains a lot of...

Re: The End is Coming: What do we do next?
Android needs an X Server or a Wayland client. Get me one of those and I'll be all over that like peanut butter on toast.
And working with the capacitive N950 has taught me that desktop Linux is...

Re: The End is Coming: What do we do next?
I don't understand. Android is built upon the Linux kernel (with some deviations, but this might re-converge in the future). Allows a very large hardware choice and gets all the new hw goodies. Has...

Re: N9: It's finally here
Well, the saga of the N9 keeps getting more and more interesting. I'm a bit slow I guess, but was starting to warm up to the idea of getting one. It does look like it was thoughtfully designed...

Re: N9: It's finally here
My two cents.
The N9 looks like a potential new phone for my wife who currently uses an N8. I can't see it replacing my N900, no way. But then I suppose my wife would miss the HDMI out which she...

Re: N9: It's finally here
My views, for anyone that cares. The N9 is the N900 for the consumer. For some of us it doesnt feel like a progression. so lets stop pretending it does.
I wanted a pocket computer in my pocket...

Re: N9: It's finally here
Insane, really. Scrolling up and down a neverending list of meaningless icons is so much more complicated than a set of well-organized folders. I demand those people to be beheaded.

Re: N9: It's finally here
Tempting. But I don't see them advertising amazingly up to date flash compatibility, which suggests there isn't any.
FM Transmitter and IR port I could live without; better specs and NFC hardware...

Re: N9: It's finally here
- No keyboard. How come? Way to blow it...
- My N900 can go at 1.15GHz too.
- No desktop. This is the new way of UI-s: nothing in the system, just a fancy application launcher, just like iOS or...

Re: svn, segmentation fault
To sum it all up in one simple post, it has been identified that the libraries libapr1 and libaprutil1 is causing subversion to crash with a "segmentation fault" error. You can fix this by typing...

USB HOST MODE! (Coming soon)
Through the efforts of many - this has been achieved - at least in basic form.
The n900 detected two USB devices - though did not have drivers for them.
Egoshins post of earlier today....

Re: GNU Emacs 23.1.1 for Nokia N900
Ah, ok -- I didn't realise that I had to disable these. So now I've got
(menu-bar-mode 0)
(tool-bar-mode -1)
(set-default-font "Droid Sans Mono-12")...

Re: N900 Specifications
I agree - I was quite dissapointed seeing that n900 doesn't have any hw buttons in front (at least some for call start&termination).. but oh, well...
however, I too think about remapping some...

I just don't really understand all this angst over the lack of a single feature. Because I don't need it, I guess, and I realize that means nothing to those who do. But I think mostly I just have...

Re: N900 Specifications
To be precise the big fat32 partition is mounted on /home/user/MyDocs which is same as $MYDOCSDIR
/home/user is on 1GB ext3 partition as well as /opt which is in reality a symlink to /home/opt.
