I also started something like this my self. But only to share my investigations for someone else interested as a kick-start.

I think that TCA8418 is more suitable for mobile devices. Full Qwerty...

This is what I regard as ideal Qwert* keyboards:
- Slides out from the longer edge of Jolla (the phone is carried on rails above the keyboard), like on Nokia N810 and N900
