Re: Maybe the unpleasant truth is that MeeGo really was too late and/or not good enough?

A quick correction, from a person who has used and enjoyed Apple products for years (since the Apple ][+): Steve Jobs is in no way a technological visionary. Nothing that Jobs has ever done in the...

Re: [Council] Nokia response to MyNokia subscription in PR1.2

An apology and acknowledgment that they shouldn't have done it, and won't do it again in the future (then actually following through?)

I think that would have sufficed for most people.

Re: [Council] Nokia response to MyNokia subscription in PR1.2

There's two flaws in this:

a) When I purchased my N900, I didn't see the original Nokia box. My carrier (A1 in Austria) puts devices they sell in their shops in A1-branded boxes. They all look the...

Re: Why the stylus isn’t dead

I use my stylus 90% of the time. Ive grown up with a dell Axim where it was needed. Its not really needed on the N900 but i like it. I feel more comfortable with it.

I want that choice.

Hell i...

Re: Why the stylus isn’t dead

Hybrid touchscreens are the best of both worlds. They have a capacitive layer over resistive layer, or vice versa. Most manufacturers are just too cheap to implement them.

Re: Why the stylus isn’t dead

Finger-friendly UIs really don't work well for anyone with long fingernails (Guitar players, women, cats...) The area of fingerpad you can get to the screen when you have to angle the finger for the...

Re: Why the stylus isn’t dead

For me, i generally prefer stylus.

Why?

What's the point of a gorgeous hi-res screen if every screen element takes up half the screen just to be "finger friendly"? I want to see more info...

Re: Why the stylus isn’t dead

Here is my simple truth. If my n900 and my iPod touch have the same program, I'll reach for the n900 every time, because of the stylus. The stylus is easier to use, I have more control, I can see...

Re: Why the stylus isn’t dead

I don't play many games these days, but of the few I've played on the N900 that make use of the touch screen, I've found the stylus *much* better than using my finger because I can actually see the...

Re: Why the stylus isn’t dead

It's a tool. Some need its use, some don't.

God forbid people were all the same. We artists would be screwed in a capacitive world.

Re: Why the stylus isn’t dead

There are platforms are forced to design and test without one (well design and if not their app gets rejected).

Err.. I can think of one reason doesn't fit into any of those categories.

Re: Problems with N900 USB port becoming broken / loose and resulting warranty & repair issues

It's hard to believe and understand how Nokia can send it back out without even testing the phone. As les_garten stated this just destroys their reputation.

Re: Problems with N900 USB port becoming broken / loose and resulting warranty & repair issues

I think this process that you are going to is working exactly as intended. I think Nokia is relying on attrition to cut their costs down. Their reputation is irrevocably damaged in my opinion.

Why I moved to N900 from iphone

For around a year I used an iphone. I really liked my phone, I jailbroke it and set it up just the way I wanted to.

1) I synced it with my documents folder on my computer.

2) I used it as a...

Re: Maemo + Moblin = MeeGo

You and I must have very different interpretations of that first sentence. Nowhere does it say the N900 will be getting MeeGo, only that Maemo is the OS Nokia uses on the N900.
