Re: music after call

Nokia indeed screwed up with N900 and it's really lame to be left out hanging with no more bugfixes coming. But there's really not much we can do about it.

Re: Important phone app needed

Wut? What good would a phone app of our own be if you can't make phone calls with it?

Re: Important phone app needed

This is also what I've seen as a major gripe. If the phone has cellular connectivity, it should also trigger to keep phone app over anything else. I actually haven't checked what priority level the...

Re: Quad Core Mobile processors by the fall!!

What would you use all that crunch for? I doubt you can find too many useful scenarios for such.

Re: Flashing Voids N900 Warranty

I cannot find any mention in any legal papers so far that flashing N900 would cause one to lose warranty on any parts of the OS or the hardware itself. Not to mention the fact that Nokia even...

Re: Flashing Voids N900 Warranty

The license and terms there say they provide no warranty _for that software_, it doesn't in any way or form remove warranty from those supplied with the phone or from the phone hardware itself.

Re: N900 processor/gpu glitch?

Then it's fried, most probably from overclocking. You can't fix a fried CPU in software.

Re: After the Nokia N900...

I don't know what would I get next.. I want an even larger screen, preferably a tablet with phone capabilities instead of a phone with tablet capabilities, you know? And I'd really want as much power...

Re: Meego vs Android apps (C or Java?)

No, you don't understand. I don't know if you have any programming experience or not, but anyways, the same libraries, kits, source-code and all can be used, you just re-compile the app. No need to...

Re: [SURVEY:] What kind of Applications are you missing at the N900?

I ain't actually missing anything on my N900, I am quite happy with all the apps there are. Though, I'd love to have a multi-platform MMORPG optimized for small-scale devices with touchscreens. Hell,...

Re: Meego vs Android apps (C or Java?)

Qt simply doesn't work like that, it is not a VM-language nor interpreted one. A Qt app compiled for ARM will not work on x86 (Atom et al) and vice versa, it needs to be re-compiled.

Re: Windows Phone 7 on N900??

There are no suitable drivers for the GPU, cellular modem, WLAN and a multitude of other devices present in N900, and Windows Phone 7 OS is developed with a DX9-compatible GPU in mind which N900 does...

Re: Meego vs Android apps (C or Java?)

Those are not different architechtures: they all sport ARM processors. Thus there is no recompilation needed. It would be different between Atom-based MeeGo device and an ARM-based one: there you'd...

Re: Is there a Limewire like program for N900?

Because porting something from a VM language like Java to native code is simply not an easy task.

Yes, there's A LOT more devs for Android nowadays than for N900.

Porting a java...

Re: n900 looks like a toy compared to this

In fact, no CPU has ever done that. Only a small handful of instructions can be done in 1 clock cycle, most of them require 3 cycles, and some can require even up to 16 cycles. It really depends on...

Re: [Maemo 5] Request: find sex application

Yeah, but the person I replied to wanted to use N900 as the vibrator. It simply won't work for several reasons: it's wrongly shaped, it'd get wet and stop functioning, and even if it didn't stop...

Re: Why N900 failed on consumer market ?

Such a lame thread.

First of all, N900 did actually succeed pretty well in regards to their target audience: geeks and hardware enthusiasts.

Secondly, general populace was never the target...

Re: [Announce] cuteTube - A feature-rich YouTube client

That's what I've been saying all along this thread: the OpenMAX H/W decoder can't handle more than 720x576 pixel resolution and that N900 simply does not have the CPU to decode higher resolution...

Re: [Announce] cuteTube - A feature-rich YouTube client

I too would recommend that. You can add a dependency on the extra decoders to cuteTube and write a media player using GStreamer. By default you could try to play the video with the OpenMAX decoder,...

Re: [Announce] cuteTube - A feature-rich YouTube client

Just give the man some time and don't bug him all the time? I am quite sure he's doing all he can, but apparently he has to build a complete new player from scratch in order to fix all the minor...
