Works for me. Can you describe exactly what you do?

Re: Will MeeGo finally end the Rapid Obsolescence Syndrome (ROS)

That's nice and I (we?) appreciate your efforts, but please also try to get them to actually open source their drivers. That's the ultimate solution I'm sure most of us are hoping for.

Re: Smart-phone Operating Systems and how they affect the availability of third party applications, thus making devices less useful for consumers.

Your article is so long it will only be read by people who already know how things work.

Edit: but I agree with your objective.

Re: Nokia X10 Rumours

If they recognized the problem when the iPhone was launched, they've now had 1 year to regroup, and 2 years to design new phones. The way things work, we may in fact be set for some rather...

Re: Fedora based MeeGo = NoGo!

I'm not entirely happy about the new base either, but I guess it could be worse. It'll still be a proper distro, but now with more support.

Is there any chance we could still vote on this somehow?

Re: Apple iPad

Modern headphones can detect whether they're in your ears. Problem solved.

However, for everyone without such headphones, this should be a user configurable option.

Re: Apple iPad

Too small.

I predict we have a one year window before all relevant services are streaming "living room"-desirable information in a proprietary format rather than what happened with RSS and feeds.

Re: Apple iPad

You guys belittling this have no imagination. Just as one example, many older people still use photo albums. They could view photos on a computer, or they could even hook up their phone to the TV,...

Re: Maemo 6 / Harmattan on N900?

Nope, Symbian is optimized for running on a wide variety of hardware. Maemo is the best platform, and optimized for the best hardware. I'm guessing three variations, max.

Re: Multi-touch functionality

They say that, but it's just bs to cover the iPhone's deficiencies. The real reason they like it is that it's so simple to use. They'll never like anything more advanced unless Apple first tells...

Re: Easy Debian Fremantle Beta Testing

What limits? Performance? I successfully ran my own 4GB (FAT32 max) image without easy debian for a while, but it was a bit slow.

By the way, Nokia should seriously give you some kind of award...

Re: Engadget N900 Review just posted (surprisingly even-handed)

I'd be happy with that comparison, because that's exactly what it is. (As long as they didn't try to suggest that Nokia should have implemented it on 2002 hardware in order to not be a copycat.)

Re: Flash 10.1 Demos - This is a little worrying

OK, that youtube video was nice and all, but Nokia has to stop missing all these marketing opportunities. The average guy is going to end up on Adobe's site and not see Maemo. That's the real...

Re: Polite request: Bluefish for N900.

IMHO if something can't easily be made finger friendly, it should be left looking like the desktop version. Having to use the stylus is not a problem when it gives us functionality beyond the...

Re: Doom & Gloom!

There are some things I miss from my 5800, but none of them compare to the extra capabilities of the N900. Unless you're really, really into S60, I'd say the compromises are well worth it.

For...

I was THIS >< close to telling you how to enable red pill mode using dd.

Re: 15 hardware changes that would have made N900 physically irresistible – [15 essential hardware features for its successor]

You have to keep in mind how product life cycles work. S60 is approaching end of life, so you can't expect anything revolutionary. No company can have the hottest product every year - it's just too...

Getting started - completely useless to me
Simple calculator - Almost TI is SOOO much...

Exactly! This is a horrible idea. The trend to hide all advanced functionality does nothing to actually help beginners, and makes everything annoying for advanced users.

And I immediately spot...

Re: Im tired of people claiming other people got faulty phones.

While you are probably correct in most cases, there are several ways a hardware fault could actually make a computer sluggish. A loose heatsink could cause automatic underclocking, for example.

Re: GUIDE: How to improve battery life SIGNIFICANTLY

Re: Nokia "cannot rule out" eventual sale of core handset business

I wouldn't put too much weight on that. Eventually the only logical move for Canon and Nikon will be to either exit the point and shoot market or turn their cameras into phones.
